Both solutions are far superior than the game's regular stereo mix and every 7.1->headphone downmix provided by HeSuVi.

Hello, everyone! I want to share my opinion on this, and also ask a few questions if I mayĭuring two weeks, I used extensively both DTS Headphone X (DTS Unbound) and Dolby Atmos for Windows on COD: MW Warzone (and also Window Sonic a little bit) It does not matter if one playback device is set to use 7.1, and the other is set to stereo, it only matters which playback device is currently active. USB DAC's present themselves as separate playback devices. I myself use a USB DAC that only supports stereo, the Chord Mojo.

Both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X are ways to play back Object-based audio, the game or movie doesn't know or care which one you are using. If a game supports Dolby Atmos, it really means it supports Object-based Audio, as opposed to Channel-based Audio. There is only 2 channels of actual audio so everything is terrible. The game is putting it's audio out as 7.1 channels, but only 2 channels have sound. Pan around the bonfire and listen as the audio disappears as it goes into your missing channels. Go back into game, and listen to the audio and immediately notice it is absolutely wrong and the center and surround channels are now missing. Lo and behold it says "Dolby Atmos for headphones is in use".Ħ. Alt tab and click volume icon on taskbar. Turn on USB DAC, windows now swaps to USB DAC since it is the default device. Conveniently we are near a bonfire now so it's easy to tell if the audio is working or not.Ĥ. Start up Horizon Zero Dawn and load into save game. Make sure currently active device (likely Realtek High Definition Audio) is configured as 7.1 channels.ģ.
Turn on USB DAC, make sure dolby atmos is enabled, set as default device.

In every other game that doesn't play nice with Atmos saying "Hi I'm actually 7.1 give me 7.1 channels please", I get stereo.Īs I've said, Horizon Zero Dawn is BUGGED, allow me to state step by step how to reproduce.ġ. In any case, it is not possible for my USB DAC to tell any game that it should be outputting surround sound, except when Dolby Atmos is enabled and it does it thing properly. Everything sounds so flat and boring with only 2 channels.Ĭlick to shrink.I myself use a USB DAC that only supports stereo, the Chord Mojo. Just a shame about Spatial Audio being useless when games only send Stereo. Think i'll just stick with Atmos for now, never really had any issue with it not sounding anything but great. Maybe it's because my Cloud II's don't have a preset in the DTSX app, only the Cloud Alphas. It's a bit hard to compare the positional accuracy of them though, but the Amaze demo sounds great in the Dolby Atmos app using Atmos.

I've tried DTSX for a bit now and feel that Atmos sounds richer and less flat compared to DTSX when watching a TV Show in 5.1 and while playing The Surge 2 for example. Some games only sends Stereo for some reason though, like FFXIV, RE3 remake and Horizon Zero Dawn. Any game that sends a surround mix will cause Atmos/DTSX to enable. Currently playing The Surge 2 and Atmos/DTS enables for that game. They said I would hear from them within two business days. This is true, though Atmos/DTSX will provide virtual sound in games that sends 5.1/7.1 signals. I'm hoping to get an answer soon, if I do I will post it here. That is a Copy/Paste that I sent to the actual manufacturers of the DVD. I am deploying to Afghanistan for a year this weekend and it is critical for me that I get this problem solved very soon. I am very upset about this issue because SinCity is my favorite movie and I really wanted to see it, which is why I paid 35 dollars for the DVD, and unfortunately I have yet to see the Recut, Extended, Unrated version. It's not just that player either, I have also tried Windows Media Player, QuickTime, Real Player, and iTunes.

I even paid to download the newest version of Dell Media Experience. There are no options that would make a difference in this issue, i tried everything. Speaker configuration (2 speakers or headphones)Īudio listening mode (stereo or dolby surround)ĭynamic range compression (Normal environment, noisy environment, or quiet environment) I went to the Audio option setting menu and the only options to change were as follows: All of my other DVDs work perfectly with all of the settings unchanged. Please change your Audio option setting on the DVD Settings page." Then it continues to play without any sound. When I try to play my DVD it says, "The DTS audio format is not supported by your current audio settings.
